Mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures
Our strong mergers and acquisitions practice enables us to provide pre-eminent complex antitrust and regulatory advice on the issues raised by mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other alliances. We advise on tactical issues, obtaining regulatory clearances in relevant jurisdictions and, where necessary, negotiating undertakings to enable the transaction to proceed.
We are skilled in drafting and advising upon commercial agreements and seek to combine competition law compliance with the achievement of clients' commercial aims.
Anti-competitive practices and monopoly abuse
We have handled many cartel and abuse of dominance investigations by the various EC member states' competition authorities and the European Commission and can offer a wealth of knowledge and experience to clients faced with potential investigations or to those seeking redress against anti-competitive practices.
Business strategies and compliance programmes
Competition law is an increasingly important element in developing business strategies and conduct, particularly in relation to arrangements with actual or potential competitors. We assist many clients including leading multinationals in structuring and implementing compliance programmes and related strategic business initiatives within Canada and EU.
We advise on a range of EU trade regulation issues, including general customs law, origin issues and anti-dumping/anti-subsidy law. We regularly represent clients in EU trade law proceedings, in particular anti-dumping cases, on behalf of both third country exporters and companies within the Community.
